WCAG 2.1 LEVEL AA COMMITMENT

Web Accessibility Statement

Our Accessibility Pledge

FamilyPrintable.com is dedicated to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone, applying relevant accessibility standards informed by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

1. Measures Taken Across Our Platform

We incorporate accessibility into our daily design, software engineering, and continuous deployment workflows:

  • Keyboard Operability: All interactive components—including the global search modal (accessible via ⌘K / Ctrl+K), category menus, theme toggle, and printable customization fields—can be fully navigated using standard keyboard keys (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Escape).
  • Semantic HTML5 Architecture: We utilize native semantic markup (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>, <details>) and proper ARIA labeling attributes to assist screen reader users (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack).
  • Contrast & Day / Night Themes: Our design system enforces a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for body copy and 3:1 for large display elements. Users can toggle freely between high-contrast Day mode and dark Night mode.
  • Fluid Text Resizing: All layout typography is defined in relative REM/EM units, allowing users to zoom and enlarge text up to 200% without loss of layout integrity or horizontal scroll bars.
  • Reduced Motion Support: For visitors who prefer minimized screen motion, our styles automatically respect system-level prefers-reduced-motion: reduce media queries, suppressing non-essential transitions and animations.

2. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. FamilyPrintable.com is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. All core user journeys—browsing tools, configuring routines, previewing templates, and exporting printable PDFs—are thoroughly tested with keyboard-only controls.

3. Physical Print & Visual Ergonomics

Beyond our website interface, our physical printable templates are engineered with visual ergonomics in mind:

  • High-Legibility Fonts: Clean sans-serif and distinct serif headings optimized for readability by young children, elderly family members, and individuals with dyslexia or low vision.
  • Generous Hit Targets: Oversized checkboxes and lined writing zones sized comfortably for children with developing fine motor skills.
  • Monochrome Ink-Saving Palette: High-contrast black-and-white mode providing maximum contrast for low-cost laser printing.

4. Third-Party Content & Advertisements

While we strive to ensure all aspects of FamilyPrintable.com remain accessible, advertisements served through third-party platforms such as Google AdSense are generated dynamically by external networks. We regularly monitor ad placements to ensure they do not interfere with screen reading, trap keyboard focus, or obscure primary website navigation.
